§ 1

How it works

  1. 01

    Choose languages

Pick the language your file is in — or let it be detected — and the language you need.

  2. 02

    Upload the file

Drop in a PDF, Word or PowerPoint file, a subtitle track, an i18n file or Markdown.

  3. 03

    Download the result

Get the same format back with the layout intact, ready to review, edit or ship.

§ 2

Formats, and what stays the same

Copy-pasting into a translator strips structure. 2Translate works on the file itself, so only the words change.

PDF PDF documents
Page layout, columns, headings, tables and images stay where they were.
DOCX Word documents
Styles, lists, tables, headers and footers, comments and tracked structure.
PPTX PowerPoint decks
Slide layouts, text boxes, speaker notes and master formatting.
SRT · VTT Subtitles
Cue numbers and timestamps untouched; lines kept within readable length.
JSON · YAML i18n files
Keys, nesting, placeholders like {name}, %s and {{count}}, and ICU plurals.
MD Markdown
Headings, links, code blocks, front matter and inline formatting.

§ 3

Built for files, not text boxes

Layout stays put

Headings, tables, lists, slide layouts and styles are rebuilt around the translated text instead of flattened.

Placeholders are protected

Variables like {name}, %s and {{count}}, HTML tags and ICU plural blocks are kept byte-for-byte.

Timing is untouched

Subtitle cues keep their numbers and timestamps, so the translated track lines up with the video.

Context-aware AI

The whole document is used as context, so terms stay consistent from the first page to the last.

Same format out

DOCX in, DOCX out. JSON in, valid JSON out. No conversions, no re-importing into another tool.

Made to be reviewed

The output is a normal file you can open, edit and hand to a reviewer — useful when accuracy really matters.

§ 4

Who it's for

  • Freelancers

Send a client a proposal, report or deck in their language without spending an afternoon re-formatting it.

  • Developers localizing apps

Turn en.json into vi.json, de.yaml or ja.json with keys and placeholders untouched — a first pass ready for review.

  • Students and researchers

Read papers, lecture slides and course material in your own language while keeping figures and structure in place.

  • Small businesses

Translate menus, price sheets, manuals and video subtitles for customers who speak another language.

Frequently asked questions

Is 2Translate available yet?

Not yet. We're building it now and this site is where it will launch. There are no accounts and nothing to pay for today; join the waitlist on this page and we'll email you when it's ready.

Which file formats will be supported?

PDF, DOCX, PPTX, SRT and VTT subtitles, JSON and YAML localization files, and Markdown. You upload one of those and download the same format back, translated.

Will placeholders and variables in my i18n files survive?

That is a core design goal. Keys are never translated, and tokens such as {name}, {{count}}, %s, %1$d and ICU plural or select blocks are protected so only the human-readable text changes. You should still run your app's tests on the result.

Does it keep subtitle timing?

Yes. Cue numbers and timestamps are copied as-is; only the text lines are translated. Because some languages run longer, very long lines are flagged so you can tighten them before publishing.

Is machine translation good enough for my document?

For drafts, internal documents, studying and many app strings, AI translation is often a solid starting point. For legal, medical, marketing or anything published under your name, have a fluent human review it. Our guide on machine vs human translation goes into detail.

What happens to the files I upload?

The product isn't live, so no files are collected today; the only thing this site stores is what you enter in the waitlist form. When it launches, the privacy page will describe exactly how uploads are processed and how long they're kept before deletion.
